This little automatic bread maker really makes it very simple to bake a fresh loaf of bread. It does all the work! It mixes the ingredients, adds the yeast at the appropriate time, kneads the dough, rises the dough, and bakes the bread — all in one machine!
A special yeast dispenser sets this machine apart from all the other bread machines. The dispenser is built right into the lid of the machine to keep the yeast dry until it's added to the dough. The dispenser adds the yeast at the right time, automatically. The yeast has no chance of getting wet and becoming activated prematurely as with other machines that have you add the yeast directly to the other ingredients. The yeast dispenser is invaluable for making bread with the extended cycle and delay timer.
Bread loaves can be three different sizes with the largest being 2 1/2 pounds. Settings on the machine let you bake several kinds of bread, like:

There are 10 modes to choose from depending on the type of bread: Bake Only Mode, Rapid Bake Mode, Sandwich Bake Mode, Raisin Bake Mode, Basic Bread Mode, Whole-Wheat Bread Mode, Multi-Grain Bread Mode, French Bread Mode, Dough Mode, and Pizza Mode. Each mode ends with an automatic shutoff.
A rapid bake cycle is available so that a loaf of bread can be made from scratch in one hour and 55 minutes.
The Panasonic SD-YD250 Automatic Bread Maker measures 14 by 13-1/2 by 9 inches and weighs just over 15 pounds. It will take up some counter space when you're using it, but it could be stored in a closet or pantry cupboard to free up the kitchen space. The baking pan is made of aluminum with a nonstick surface so the bread practically slides right out when it's done. The mixing paddle may have to be pulled out of the bread loaf, but that doesn't make much of a hole in the loaf. The white machine is plastic and easy to wipe clean.
Two items that other bread machines may offer that the Panasonic bread maker doesn't have is an add-ingredient alert and a keep-warm setting. Other than that this little bread maker has all the features that you'll ever need to make delicious homemade bread.
